About Janine Getler

Based in New York, Janine Getler is a multi-faceted individual who is currently an Attorney and Principal of Getler, Gomes & Sutton, PC in Suffern, New York. A dual passion with studying law in Janine’s life has always been real estate and – as someone who was always fascinated by the potential of construction high rise projects in New York City – Janine has managed to build a career for herself that marries both interests together. Getler, Gomes & Sutton, PC was founded in June of 2009, and over the last decade, Janine and her team have been building the firm into a powerhouse in the industry.

Janine Getler’s career as an attorney began in 1991 when she was admitted to the bar in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, but her experience in law actually began five years earlier when she worked as a researcher in the Municipal Bond Department for Standard & Poor’s Corporation. From there, she moved to Merrill Lynch where, in her role as Legal Assistant/Compliance, she worked with securities lawyers and brokers to assist with inquiries that ranged from client risk analysis to fiduciary relationships and retirement accounts.

 

 

 

 

 

Professional Background

Janine Getler stayed with Merrill Lynch for several years before moving for a bit into academia at Brooklyn Law School where she worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Norman Poser and assisted in the research and writing of a book focused on broker-dealer liability issues. After she earned her Juris Law degree from Brooklyn Law School, Janine took on a role with Beattie Padovano as an associate. Here, her duties included land use and residential real estate transactions, research and brief writing for litigation cases, and the representation of large companies in litigation.

After nearly three years with Beattie Padovano, Janine Getler made a move to Price, Meese Shulman & D’Arminio, a Land Use and Litigation firm where she worked as a Senior Associate, specializing in zoning and planning work and handling title review work and representation of her clients.

From here, she moved to the Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, and Litigation firm Zucker, Goldberg & Ackerman, where she served as Counsel. She stayed with the firm for nearly five years before accepting a position with HRH Construction LLC in White Plains, New York.

In June of 2009, she opened Gelter, Gomes & Sutton, PC, where she’s remained ever as the Principal since. Getler, Gomes & Sutton PC is a real estate and construction law firm that provides services to the New York and New Jersey areas.
